Where to find Puzzle 019?
Puzzle 019 – Parking Lot Gridlock is found by returning to the Drawbridge during Chapter 2 and interacting with the Laytonmobile.
How many picarats is Puzzle 019 worth?
Puzzle 019 is worth 40 picarats.
How to solve Puzzle 019?
This puzzle requires you to maneuver cars in a car park to allow the Laytonmobile to leave the car park.
The Laytonmobile, the professor’s pride and joy, is stuck behind several other cars trying to exit a crowded parking lot.
Things are so tight, though, that each car can only move forwards and backwards with respect to the direction it’s currently facing.
Use your stylus to direct traffic and guide the professor’s red car to the exit.
You can free the professor’s car in only 14 moves, so each move you make needs to be a step forward – in this puzzle, you can easily find yourself moving cars back and forth with no real progression.
To free the professor’s car within the 14 moves, along the way, you’ll need to move the car backwards as well as forward and you’ll only need a one-tile gap at the exit.
What are the hints for Puzzle 019?
Hint 1
Just trying to clear the cars immediately in front of the professor’s vehicle won’t get you anywhere.
Think about exactly what it is you’ll need to do to clear a path to the lot exit.
Hint 2
Don’t be afraid to take a step back to move ahead two steps. You may need to move some things into the way to get them out of the way in the end.
When you’re moving cars around, be sure to keep in mind each car’s directional limitations.
Hint 3
To start, you’ll need to move the two cars directly in front of the Laytonmobile. In order to do that, you’ll first need to move the horizontally oriented car that sits right above those two vehicles.
Once you’ve completed that task, move the Laytonmobile forward toward the exit. Then try to rearrange cars at the end of the lot opposite the exit.
Puzzle 019 Answer
Step 1:
Move the horizontal car directly above the Laytonmobile to the right.
Step 2:
Move the vertical car immediately in front of the professor’s car up.
Step 3:
Move the next vertical car in front of Layton’s up, as well.
Step 4:
Move the professor’s car right.
Step 5:
Move the vertical car in the bottom-left corner up.
Step 6:
Move the horizontal car on the row below the professor’s to the left.
Step 7:
Move the first horizontal car on the left of the bottom row to the left.
Step 8:
Move the second vertical car from the top-left all the way down to fit in the slot you made at the bottom.
Step 9:
Move the professor’s car left.
Step 10:
Move the vertical car to the right of the left of the two horizontal cars in the top-right down.
Step 11:
Move the horizontal car on the second row in the top-right corner right.
Step 12:
Move the vertical car blocking the exit up.
Step 13:
Move the vertical car blocking the professor’s car up.
Step 14:
Free the Laytonmobile!
Fortunately, you can treat this puzzle as a war of attrition – eventually, you’ll find your way out.
However, one of the key parts of this puzzle is making sure you focus on moving the cars behind the professor’s car as well as clearing the space in front.
You’ll find that moving the cars behind the professor’s car will give you a bigger playground to maneuver in.
